How to do stamping MoYou London

What does stamping mean and how to do it!?

Stamping is a method of  nail art which makes patterns with print it from special stamping plate on a stamp and then from a stamp on nail.

Popularity of this method is growing quickly: a lot of new stamping plates and tools are out on the market and they keep up with the trend.

If you want to learn how to do stamping it's not necessary to be an artist nor to have any professional skill – practice is all you need. Now there is no need to go to a nail salon to get perfect manicure.

You can buy everything you need for stamping in our online-store. We offer only best quality products! We try each kind of product unless we are sure that its’ quality is up to the standards.

For stamping you will need: first of all – stamping plate, stamp and scraper, stamping nail polish or a highly pigmented nail polish and cuticle defender (to protect the skin around your nails).

To keep all the tools clean: nail polish remover (no oils or vitamins included). It is better to use a nail polish remover with acetone (this one erase pigmented nail polishes faster and easier). In case you use a silicon stamp, it's better to use a sticky tape to clean it.

Now let`s get into details.

Stamping plate is a metal plate with patterns engraved on it.

You can choose a picture up to your taste because there are so many designs.

2.jpg

You can find different brands of stamping plates in our online-store: MoYou London, Konad, PUEEN.

All stamping plates that we have in store are made of high quality materials and offer a huge variety of patterns.

Stamping plates have not only various patterns on it but, the depth of the engraving is also differ from brand to brand (for example, MoYou have a deep engraving while PUEEN have a mild engraving, but it doesn't affect the final look of the print).

Stamping plates with lace and flowers are the most popular. By the way, among MoYou the most popular are: Bridal, Doodles, Explorer, Fashionista, Gothic, Princess, Pro и Pro XL, Sailor, Suki, Tropical, Zodiac.

Stamp is a tool to print a pattern from a stamping plate on nail.

3.jpg

For now, there are different forms, shapes and materials of stamps.

4.jpg

Stamping pads can be made of rubber, non-sticky silicon and sticky silicon.

5.jpg

Rubber stamps.
6.jpg

From all stamps that are available for now rubber  are the though one and you have to press them a little bit harder to print a pattern, for example, Konad stamps are not too hard.

7.jpg

While printing the pattern part of it may remain on the head of stamp and be a little bit pale compared to prints from silicon stamps.

Silicon stamp print.

15.jpg

You can clean rubber stamps with nail polish remover...

10.jpg

...and with sticky tape by printing the excess on tape.

 11.jpg

Non-sticky Silicon stamps.

12.jpg

13.jpg

Silicon stamps are softer that rubber stamps. When printing the pattern you don't have to push hard or it can deform.

Sometimes pattern can be transferred unevenly  that can happened if  layer of product from stickiness was left on the stamp pad and in this case you can slightly buff the head of stamp to remove that layer. Please be careful while buffing don't push too hard.

After buffing it once, there is no need to do it again.

Non-sticky silicon stamps perfectly print any polishes and stamping nail polishes.

On the photo below we used for stamping metallic nail polish, as you can see, after printing it on nail there is almost no excess nail polish was left.

14.jpg

Print on paper.

15.jpg

Silicon stamps may print patterns thinner than it`s on the stamping plate.

On the photo below stamping we used with black stamping nail polish from El Corazon and Konad-m89 stamping plate.

It is better to clean Silicon stamps with sticky tape than nail polish remover or silicon pad can be ruined.

 20.jpg

Sticky silicon stamps.

21.jpg

The quality of sticky silicon stamps is the same as non-sticky silicon stamps but the sticky ones are softer and feel different when touching them.

You don't have to buff Sticky stamps.

Print on paper.

22.jpg

Also, this kind of silicon stamps are better to clean with the sticky tape.

Scrapers.

23.jpg

Scraper is a tool to remove the excessive nail polish from stamping plate.

Scrapers can have metal edge or don't have it and in the shape of plastic card as in MoYou London and PUEEN.

All scrapers are good but the one with metal edge can leave scratches on the stamping plate, but it won't affect the pattern itself.

Even your old standard plastic card can be used; it will give you the same effect as the regular scraper.

Polishes abs paints for stamping.

To get the bright and clear patterns you have to use the right polishes for stamping.

El Corazon have special line for stamping which includes stamping nail polishes and paints with the huge variety of colors and we are add new color to it regularly.

On the photo, it's only a small part of what we have.

24.jpg

El Corazon stamping polishes work great on both basic bright and dark colors. Shimmering polishes looks especially good on dark laying – base color becomes almost seamless and color of the stamping polish can differ depending on the base you use.

25.jpg

Also, you can use regular nail polish for stamping but it has to be pigmented and gives a thick color when applied in 1 layer.

El Corazon has many nail polishes, which are good for stamping: Mirror nail polishes (Kaleidoscope), Sophisticated Nailpolishmaniac, Prizma, Large Hologram, Charme and Beauty, Matte, Matte&Shine и Matte Effect Neon.

Cuticle defender.

You may know that after stamping some nail polish may stick on to the skin. Highly pigmented polishes are hard to remove from the skin, shimmering and metallic polishes leave glitter parts, which are hard to get rid of.

El Corazon made Cuticle defender to ease the process of stamping and make your skin around the nail clean.

It goes in different colors but all of them do the same job it's only up to your taste what color to choose.

26.jpg

27.jpg

It's easy to use:

  1. Place it on the skin around your nail before stamping and let it dry for about 30 seconds.

  2. Stamp the pattern or do your design on the nail.

  3. Pick it up on the side and pool - it will go off as an elastic cover.

How to do stamping?

Firstly apply your base color on the nails and let it dry or you can smudge it while stamping the pattern.

If it's your first time doing stamping you can practice on bare nails or paper.

28.jpg

Prepare everything you will need: clean the pattern you chose on the stamping plate (as an example we use MoYou London №Pro 8).

29.jpg

And don't forget about the stamp: if it's rubber just clean it beforehand with the nail polish remover; if it's silicon just use a sticky tape to clean it.

31.jpg

Use Cuticule Defender around your nail and let it dry.

32.jpg

Cover the pattern with the stamping nail polish (we used Kaleidoscope Stamping nail polish №st-02(white)).

33.jpg

Remove the excess with the scraper. It is better to swap the scraper under 45 degree angle you have to do it in one fast motion slightly pushing the scraper.

34.jpg

With one rolling motion print the pattern on the stamp (in case you use rubber stamp, push it a little bit more to get the picture on the stamp). If you use silicon stamp don't push it as long as it's very elastic and picture may be deformed because of the pressure.

35.jpg

Also with one rolling motion place the pattern on the nail.

Again, with rubber stamps you have to push it a little while transferring the pattern.

With Silicon stamp you just have to slightly press on your nail and it will cover the whole nail even close to the skin around your nail or you can roll it from one side to another to get the best result but don't press hard it may lead to the smudged effect.

36.jpg37.jpg

After the stamping is done, remove Cuticule Defender just pull it from one edge and it will be take off easily.

38.jpg39.jpg

As long as the pattern is thin, you have to cover it with the top coat. It is better to use Top Coat Like Gel №434 by El Corazon it will give you the smooth gel-like finish (don't push the brush while applying top coat to avoid smudging the picture), Top Coat Like Gel will help your manicure to last longer up to 7-10 days which is especially important if you have a nice print on nails.

Before moving on to the next nail it's a must to clean all the tools.

Reverse stamping and stained-glass stamping.

Nail polish and nail art lovers wanted to make something more than just stamping a picture on nails and they started painting on the pattern they had.

That is how the reverse or leadlight and stained-glass techniques was invented.

What is the stained-glass stamping?

This is the same as regular stamping technique but the picture on the nail paints with the half-transparent polishes or tints.

El Corazon has special tints for this type of stamping and other nail art techniques.

tinti-group.jpg

How to do the stained-glass stamping.

Step by step lesson is on the photos below.

On the photos we used El Corazon nail polish Charm and beauty №878, stamping paint Kaleidoscope №st-02 (white), stamping plate MoYou London №Pro XL 13, tints Kaleidoscope Aquarelle tints №03, 04, 07, Top coat  "Top Coat Like Gel" №434.

Move on to the stamping.

54.jpg

Place a little bit of tint on paper, foil, plastic (whatever you prefer) and paint the pattern using the dotting tool or a small brush.

55.jpg56.jpg

Repeat with other tint colors.

57.jpg

Let it dry and cover it with the Top coat.

58.jpg

What is reverse stamping?

The difference between reverse and stained-glass stamping is that for revers stamping you can use any polishes you like not just tints.

How to do reverse stamping?

Step by step lesson is on the photos below.

We used: MoYou London rectangular stamp, El Corazon Active Bio-gel polishes “Jelly neon” №423/251, 423/ 253, 423/254, 423/255, El Corazon Top Coat Like Gel №434.

Transfer the print on the stamp as in the usual stamping but do not place it on the nail.

42.jpg

Take a little bit of a nail polish with the dotting too land fill the gaps in the pattern. Repeat it with any color you want to be on the pattern and let it dry. It will be the bottom side of the stamping.

43.jpg
44.jpg

Cover everything with the thin layer of Top coat. This layer should be as thin as possible: this way the “decal” will look better in the end and will dry fast. El Corazon Top Coat Like Gel №434 is also good for this stamping.

45.jpg

After it is fully dry carefully, remove it from the stamp.

46.jpg

Place the “decal” on the nail with the base color on it after that cover the picture with Top coat and let it dry (we used white color as a base for this stamping).

47.jpg

When you put the “decal” on your nail, it is better to start from the side of Cuticule moving on to the edge of nail.

48.jpg

Make smooth after you place it.

49.jpg

Cut the excess.

50.jpg

Use the orange stick to smooth the edges.

51.jpg

Apply Top coat.

52.jpg

Done!

Have hardships while doing stamping? Why this can happen and how to fix it.

Nail polish doesn't stick to stamp or nail?

If stamping plate or stamp is new, make sure that you removed protective cover (it can be transparent or blue). Usually stamping plates have protective cover but Konad does not.

Nail polish remover with oils may be the case of hardships with stamping and be the reason of uneven pattern on the nail. Use nail polish remover without oils.

The final result may depend on how fast you do the stamping – do it fast don't hesitate or nail polish will dry even before you stamp it.

Thick texture of the nail polish also may lead to the fast drying effect. If your nail polish is too thick just add a couple of drops of nail polish thinner.

The pattern comes out smudged.

When stamping the pattern on nail try do not move it around too much just roll it from one side to another - this will be enough. If nail polish is smudging, try to wait for a little bit more before printing it on stamp or nail.
